Jeffrey Shumway for Mayor
My Vision For Our Future
My name Jeffrey Shumway, a US Air Force veteran, former police detective, and proud father of two small children. I am running for mayor to build a stronger and more unified Fort Collins for all. I moved here three years ago to raise my new family in this beautiful location. My life is dedicated to service—from protecting our nation and upholding justice to now running for office with practical, common-sense solutions.
My top priority is smartly balancing our budget without raising taxes or burdening families. That means streamlining city operations and cutting wasteful spending. I will invest wisely in what truly matters—keeping government out of people's personal lives as much as possible. I believe in limited intervention: let entrepreneurs innovate, families make their own choices, and individuals pursue happiness without unnecessary red tape.
I take the health and safety of every resident extremely seriously. Drawing on my police experience, I'll bolster public safety with better-supported police and mental health resources. My goal is to make Fort Collins the safest and most beautiful city in America. I'll ensure clean, safe parks and streets where families can thrive. As a father, I deeply care about creating a wonderful place for my children to grow—and for all Fort Collins residents to thrive.
I am a political outsider with fresh ideas to drive real change: cutting out wasteful government mandates that drive up utility bills through unnecessary intervention, supporting local businesses, and addressing homelessness with a tough love approach. These aren't partisan pipe dreams—they're practical steps to unite us, boost our economy, and preserve what we love about Fort Collins.
Vote Shumway for a balanced, prosperous future. Together, we'll make our city shine for generations.
